Billet Ford Heads
The demand for more power in a racing engine is never ending.  The best area to search for power in the past has
traditionally been the cylinder head.  The problem is many castings have reached their developmental limit.  Power
levels have also grown so high that castings no longer can stand the temperatures and pressures involved for very
long, having to be replaced every few races.  In some applications castings are not stiff enough to resist flexing and
lifting!!  So Don Losito thought it was necessary to start from a clean slate, from a stronger material with unlimited
options.  With the capabilities of Ultra Pro Machining’s 5-Axis CNC machines a cylinder head made from one solid
aluminum billet with a complete water jacket was possible.  What this means is a cylinder head that is incredibly stiff
to resist lifting and flexing.  Tougher material that resists softening much better than castings.  Most importantly,
complete freedom in port design, chamber design, valve positioning, spark plug positioning, and water jacket
placement.  If a new port design interferes with the water jacket on one of our billet heads we simply reposition the
water jacket.  This line of cylinder heads has been a powerful tool for engine builders.  Our 9-degree Ford made
possible by the billet process has consistently netted engine builders 40hp and 30lb-ft over the D3 heads.  They have
been in production for 2 1/2 years now with over 170 heads currently racing with no problems.  Customers running
our turbo/supercharged head have yet to break one while producing 2500+ horsepower. These heads have been
racing and winning in nearly every application including, Dirt Late Models, Offroad Trucks, ARCA, and many Drag
Racing series.  Also available is a port for high performance street engines, which responds well over a broader
range than the raceheads.  For extreme Drag Racing applications we have a non-water jacketed 18-bolt option.  
There are three intake valve angles available, from or new 9 degree, to more traditional D3 and SC1 valve angles.  
To make sure your heads are perfect for you several valve sizes and seat angles are available.  All heads feature
oversized valve seats made from either copper beryllium or ductile iron.  The valve job is cut by a Serdi valve seat-
cutting machine to insure perfect concentricity.  We manufacture our own guides in house from manganese bronze
and hone them to the engine builder’s specifications.
